Análisis de la tendencia relativa del nivel medio del Río de la Plata entre 1905 y 2020
Abstract
Global warming has already reached 1°C above the pre-industrial level, due to past and future gas emissions. Although the ocean's response is slow, melting of continental ice, and thermal expansion due to warming, are causing global sea level to rise. Vulnerability to flooding is a global problem that requires detailed local studies and alert systems based on scientific research. The coast of the Río de la Plata is an area that suffers from such vulnerability, so it is mandatory to know the evolution of the phenomena that cause floods. In this work, the relative trend of the mean Río de la Plata level within the period 1905-2020, based on hourly observations in situ is analyzed, and we obtain an increase of 1.50mm per year. On the other hand, this value increases to 1.85mm/year if the period 1951-2020 is considered.
